Chapter 1: College Starts!

"Nishuuu!!! C'mon Nishu, get up yaar. It's already 8 am." A beautiful girl in traditional Indian light blue attire said.

She was a tall girl with height of 5'8 feet. She was not wearing any jewellery except for a silver locket that was a symbol of her sisters' love. With while colour Punjabi juttis, only transparent lip gloss as her makeup,  she was looking like a goddess, elegant and pretty. She kept her waist length hair open as they were a little wet. Her suit was not highlighting her milky curves, but if anyone would see her like this, he would fall in love with her at the first sight. Her simplicity was the weapon which she could use to kill anyone, but she being she, never did so.

"Sone de na yaar Adi" said Nisha, her roommate while scrunching her nose and crying like a baby.

(Let me sleep, Adi)

"Nishu, uth. College nahi jaana?" said Adi

(Nishu, get up. Don't you wanna go to college?)

"College?" asked Nisha jn her sleeping voice while half opening her eyes.

"Yes madam. For your kind information, today is the first day of our college. Our classes start at 9:00 am, it will take us 15 minutes to reach the college and it's already 8:00am. So technically, you've got only 45 minutes to get ready. Toh madam, ab uthne ki kripa karengi aap?"

(So madam, will you please get up now?)

Sudden realisation striked Nisha. She woke up with a jolt. She saw the time in her phone.

"Oh shit! Yaar Adi, mujhe pehle nahi utha sakti thi?" Nisha complained.

(Adi, couldn't you wake me up earlier?)

"Are, main toh kabse utha rahi hun tujhe!" said Adi.

(I've been trying to wake you up since so long.)

Listening to this, Nisha ran to the washroom with the speed of lightening. Adi rechecked her bag to see if she had kept all her books according to that day's timetable or not.

Nisha came out of the washroom after 15 minutes wearing a loose top and ripped jeans. She started drying her hair with the hair dryer.

"Jaldi kar Nishu, nahi toh mess mein khana khatam ho jaayega. Sab already apne-apne college ke liye nikal chuke honge. Hum hi poore hostel mein sabse late honge."

(Make it fast Nishu, or the food will fet finished in the mess. Everyone must've left for their respective colleges. We must be the latest ones in the whole hostel.)

"Bas do minute ruk jaa yaar. Mera ho gaya almost."

(Please wait for two minutes dude. I'm almost done.)

With this, she applied some moisturizer and lip balm, set her hair and packed her bag according to her timetable of that day.

After 5 minutes, both of them left for their room after locking it. They first went into the mess, but unfortunately, till they reached, the food was over, only some tea and toast were left. Thus, not wasting anymore time, they took a cup of tea and a toast each, and started going for their college.

They took an auto and told the driver the name of the college.

"Bhaiya, Royal Central College chaloge?" asked Adi

(Will you take us to Royal Central College?)

"Ji madam. Aaiye baithiye."

(Yes madam, please sit.)

They both sat in the auto and the driver started taking them to their destination. Nisha was continuously doing something on her phone whereas Adi was looking out of the auto.

She started remembering everything about her life. After how many struggles and facing difficulties, she reached here, in Delhi, in her favourite college, to study and make a name for herself, to make her family proud. Remembering her past, her eyes turned glossy and watery. She didn't know when a lone tear escaped her eyes.

Nisha noticed this and asked her

"Adi, why are you crying?"

Only then did Adi realise that a tear escaped her eyes without her notice. She quickly wiped her tears and said

"Nothing, just thinking about the struggle which I and my family did so that l can study in Delhi's one of the top colleges, the Royal Central College..."

"So what's in it to cry? Instead, you should be happy that finally, you are going to your dream college for which you worked so hard."

At this, Adi sadly chuckled a little

"कभी-कभी किसी चीज़ को पाने के लिए ज़िंदगी ऐसे ज़ख्म देती है ना, जो ना ही कभी भर सकते है, ना भरे जा सकते है। और हर पल जब आप उस चीज़ को देखते हो, तो मानो कोई उन ज़ख्मों पर नमक छिड़क रहा हो।"

(Sometimes when you want to achieve something, life gives you such scars which can never heal. Everytime you see that thing, you feel like those wounds are getting fresh.)

"Whatt?" Nisha asked getting perplexed by Aditi's answer.

Adi chuckled a little at her question and answered

"Nothing. Forget it."

"Why? Tell me no, what happened?" Nisha said

"Nothing Nishu, I told you no, just leave this topic." Adi said

"Are but-"

"Nishaa..."

Nisha was cut by Adi. She knew that there's no point in arguing with Adi, so she just decided to let the topic go and tried to cheer her by saying

"Achcha baba, fine. I won't ask you anything. Chill dude. Just imagine, we'll get to meet so many handsome guys here. Finally, away from home, living in hostel is such a nice life bro. There's no one to lecture you about anything. And who knows, maybe even I'll get my prince charming here itself...." Nisha said acting dreamily

Adi smiled at her friend's overacting.

Soon, they reached their college. They paid the auto driver and thanked him for dropping them.

They stood in front of the college gate and observed the huge, tall and magnificent building. There was green grass all around the building and a wide path was paved for the students and other staff to enter into the college campus. There was a huge water fountain just at some distance from the gate.

Nisha's jaw dropped looking at the whole infrastructure of the college while Adi was maintaining a neutral face. She was not looking much amused by the college infrastructure, rather she was lost in her own world of thoughts. She came out of the world when she heard Nisha calling her name.

"Adi... Adi!"

"Huh?"

"Kahan khoyi hui hai tu?" Nisha asked.

(Where are you lost?)

"Kahin nahi..." Adi said.

(Nowhere)

"Toh phir chale?" Nisha asked.

Aditi realised that they were still standing at the gate of the college campus.

"Haan, chal, chalte hai." Adi said.

(Yep, let's go.)

With this, they entered the college campus, walking through the paved way. Nisha was continuously admiring the beauty of her surroundings like a child who has just entered a gamezone. Whereas, on the other hand, Aditi was getting all nervous and anxious.

"Adi, what happened? Are you fine? You've been acting all weird since the beginning of the day. All okay?" Nisha asked Aditi showing her concern towards her.

"Yaar Nishu, mujhe bohot ghabrahat ho rahi hai yaar. Main tere bina kaise rahungi akele? Mera toh yeh sab soch sochkar sar chakra raha hai." Adi said getting tensed.

(Nishu, I am feeling very nervous. How will I manage alone without you? I'm feeling dizzy just by the mere thought of this.)

"Ohho meri jaan! Tu mujhse itna pyaar karti hai ki mere bina ek second bhi nahi reh sakti? Haye main marjaawan!" Nisha said in a flirtatious tone.

(Oh my dear! Do you love me so much that you can't live without me even for a second? Oh god!)

"Shut up Nishu! Here I am unable to breathe properly and you're just joking around." Adi said getting irritated.

"Achcha sorry baba. I was just trying to lighten your mood. Why are you getting so tensed? See, l know you are an introvert, but are you the only one? No right. There must be many more like you. Then why are you worrying so much? Just relax, okay?" Nisha said consoling Aditi.

Aditi thought of the situation for a while and said

"You are right. Maybe l am thinking too much."

"Yeah. So stop overthinking and let's go, we're getting late." Nisha said.

"Yeah, let's go." Adi said.

With this, both of them went to their respective classes.
